COULD YOU BE OUR NEXT MEMBER-NOMINATED TRUSTEE DIRECTOR?
We’re looking to appoint a Member-nominated Trustee Director (MNTD) to join the Trustee Board of M&S Pension Trust Limited. The Board is made up of nine Trustee Directors and is completely independent from M&S. Trustee Directors are responsible for managing the Scheme in line with the Scheme Rules and legislation. They must act prudently, responsibly, honestly and impartially, and always in the best interests of members.
It’s an opportunity to use your skills and experience to the benefit of all Scheme members and run one of the largest pension schemes in the UK. It also provides new challenges and the chance to broaden your knowledge in a number of areas.
WHO CAN APPLY?
All members of the Scheme can apply for this role, except those who are receiving a spouse or dependant’s pension.
You don’t need to have experience as a trustee or a background in finance or pensions. You will need to be interested in pensions and willing to spend time developing your knowledge, reading meeting papers and attending meetings. Other skills and experience that are useful include having been in a decision-making group before, or knowledge of HR, communications, management or investments. Most importantly, you’ll need to be able to ask the right questions, understand advice from industry professionals and weigh up options to make decisions.
HOW DO I APPLY?
The role starts from 1 April 2024. You’ll need to complete and submit your application by 11 December 2023. If you’re successful, the Selection Panel will be in touch to arrange an interview that will take place in January 2024.
